Ashtanga Yoga Philosophy
The eight limbs of the Ashtanga yoga primary series-Yamas, niyamas, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana and samadhi- are the highlights of this multi-style yoga course.
To help you lead a balanced life, this extensive curriculum also covers yoga philosophy based on the principles of Patnajali’s Yoga Sutras.
Traditional Hatha Yoga
Hatha Yoga, as a tantric path, is the portion of the total yoga system that focuses on the vehicle to liberation, the physical and energy body. It has seven steps: Satkarma, Asana, Pranyama, Mudra, Pratyahara, Dhyana and Samadhi. All yoga classes which involve asana and pranayama techniques are simply different renditions of Hatha Yoga. Hatha yoga provides a mystical clue to the road to the awareness that one could call the science of breath, or the science of energy work (pranayama). ‘Ha’ means sun nadi, and ‘Tha’ means moon nadi or pingala and ida respectively. These refer to the energy tubes or pathways issuing from the base of the spine, crisscrossing the Chakras and resulting above the right and left nostrils.
Hatha yoga is known as the core of Asana Practice. We strongly encourage you to bring your creativity into your teaching styles.
